Owls.. The Diet... Sego Lily Cafe & Giveaway & all the News...

First of all.. if you haven't tried the Sego Lily Cafe in Bountiful.. you should.. it's divine. The menu says something like, "Fine Dining North of the City" and that's true. They have this creamy chicken soup that is some of the best soup I've ever tried! It's crazy there on the weekends and Monday nights, but if you go on Tuesday or Wednesday you can practically have the place to yourself. (I like to know that kind of info.. Are you in a see and be seen mood.. or just in the mood for a quiet dinner.. quiet dinner is more my scene).
The Diet... is finally doing better. The rule I have the most trouble with is the 5 servings per day of fruits and veggies. I usually get to 4 and miss the mark. My new secret weapon is frozen mixed veggies with lima beans. I love lima beans and I know that all of you do not.. so you may have to find your own secret weapon. But, a serving of mixed veggies equals 1/2 cup and I can microwave that and eat 1 whole cup with my lunch and that equals 2 servings. I really think eating healthier is helping me feel better which is good.. anything that will help curb the general anxiety. How are you doing with it.. those of you who are on the wagon?
Now.. Owl news! I got a proof from the printer yesterday and the new owl postcard looks to be really fun! I can't wait to show you! It should be here next week.
More Owl news is... that I finished just a few owl boxes this week and one is in:
ThE LOvE BoXes SHoP
today.
Then, heads up! There will be a yellow giveaway on Friday so don't forget to stop by then and say hello. I have not replaced my favorite color.. it's still pink, but I have a real fondness for the fun lemony yellows that have been around during the past year. It's going to be fun!

I've driven past that cafe, but I didn't know much about it. It's nice to know it has a recommendation! Speaking of yummy foods - I made your enchiladas last night. I can't wait for lunch leftovers!

The diet sounds like its going great. I have to watch it for health reasons. It was a life style change for me. Thats how I approach it.

Yellow sounds like a cheery thing to look forward to on Friday for sure. Can't wait. Your a hoot Tiff.

Getting enough veggies is also a struggle for me. I like making taco meat, adding lots of black beans, and then eating it the next day on top of a salad (cold, not heated). I normally don't like salad, but I like having lettuce mixed into every bite of the taco meat/bean mixture. I'm eagerly anticipating a yellow giveaway!

Oh fun! I LOVE those owls, and can't wait to see the postcards!

The diet: eh. I am trying. Really I am! I fell of the no soda/candy rule... and consumed so much yesterday that I think I've consumed my years supply now! Thats the hardest part for me! I eat salads all the time. The thing that I found that I love is the organic Spring Salad mix from Costco! Its all ready to go, just add dressing! I have been trying to have that for my 2 snacks.

I have been looking for a new restaurant to try... I will have to give this one a go!

Oh, I am so excited to see the owls!
The diet. I am glad I am not the only one who has not been perfect on this one. I am a big ole cheater! My biggest problem was cheating at night but I think part of the was because wm was gone so I stayed up late and got hungry. So he is back so hopefully I will do better. Course the flu gave me a bit of a goose in the weight lose so maybe I can keep it going!

The best diet to me, and this is the only one that works for me and it is contrary to a lot of expert advice: 1) don't to any strenuous exercise. It makes you tired and increases your appetite, making you go for the sugar! Just walking for 20-30 minutes 3 times a week. 2) never eat anything at all past 7 PM. After 7 PM only drink water. Keep sugar-free jello cups around if you have to have a quick snack to make it through the night. 3) only eat part of your dessert. Whatever desserts come your way, only eat part of it and throw the rest away. 4) eat things you like, even if they are unhealthy. But try to skip sweats altogether every other day. 5) Be happy with what you got and the body you got because it could always be fatter. 6) Make it a goal never to gain weight...that way in 5 years, you won't have that much more to try and lose. 7) never take dieting advice from someone else...including me...create your own standards that work for you and make you happy.

Love LIMA BEANS too but no one else in the house does so I usually don't make them. The owl is too cute!
Continued luck on the diet - hate that word - it's been a part of my life since the age of 13- yikes!
Have a wonderful week and I'll be back on Friday!
Blessings,
Sandy :)

the owl box is very pretty. i've been trying to diet to months but shamefully never ever started. I think the 5 servings a day is good but I dont know if i could give up the culprit food, rice.

Sego Lily is wonderful and even better with good friends. I'm running my children to and fro and marinating flank steak for dinner. Sounds simple; but it's a good life! Good luck with glass castle....count your blessings.

The Diet was off to a rough start, I'm still IN though. The hardest one for me is the only 1 sweet per day. Man, that's a doosie...

I started walking my daughter to school since you started this diet. Hope the weather stays nice so I can keep that up. It's been really fun for me and the kids. We all feel a lot better after a little exercise it seems.

Tiffany - Just wanted to say thanks for your kind, kind comments. Especially the one about Churchill. We have not seen that, in fact hadn't even heard of it. We run a political consulting business, "Churchill Strategies," guess we share a common hero! When I told my husband, he googled the movie immediately and I thought he might pee his pants! Thanks, again.
