Very nice. You do beautiful work. I was so impressed with the finish on the box you sent me. Do you think what you use would work on a table top? I have a small table I want to refinish.

Carrie... if your table has been painted before then this is what I would do. Use some sand paper not rough enough to take off the paint and rough up the paint all over this table. Then use a product called Kilz which is a primer, but it is also a great binder as well. Next choose a paint color.. for a table expecially I would choose a tough oil based paint. I use Pratt and Lambert and Benjamin Moore when I paint furniture or walls. Benjamin Moore has the most amazingly true colors (with fewer brown or gray tones than other paints) . Use a very, very light sanding between each coat (really a fine grain of paper) Finally if you want a finish kind of like my boxes then I would used an oil-based High Gloss polyurethane varnish to top it off with. I would do 2-3 coats of that. You can decide to go with latex... just choose laten appropriate products all the way through and if you choose oil, choose oil all the way through. There is an appropriate Kilz for both.

One more thing, if you choose a dark color.. say like deep red or black.. have the paint store tint the kilz for you so that you won't have to paint your piece seven times to get the dark color (been there done that :)

Hope that helps... :)

Thanks so much. I prefer to use latex paints if I can. Does poly varnish come in a latex and will I get such a high gloss finish ? Which I love btw.
