Kinetic Sculpture...

We had a special visitor this week.
He traveled a long way to get here. In fact, when he'd about had it.. and was ready to be done with that airplane... he still had 6 shows more to go. Do you gauge your time in shows? Well, it makes a lot of sense if you're an Elementary School age kinda guy.
I never did get a good photo though. He wouldn't look at me. The kinetic sculpture at the Clark Planetarium was just too wonderful and he couldn't take his eyes off it for more than 20 minutes. We had to bribe him away with popcorn.

Then we went to see a new 3D cartoon called Fly Me to the Moon. I forgot that 3D movies make me really motion sick for some reason... (NOw I REMEMBER!) and it was about flies and maggots... some of the flies go to space. Yuck. I'm still recovering. I hope the nephews liked it. One really small nephew said it was "a really good bug show". If you intend to see this one think 3-7 year old boys. I wish I had spent the whole time watching this cute guy and the amazing kinetic sculpture instead. Now that.. was fun. :)

A Sewing Travel Pillows Day...

I can't take any credit for Michelle's "Love" pillow... those would be great in your shop Michelle.. I love mine.
But, we did make covers for these little 9X12 travel pillows. I don't remember where I found the pillow forms, but I see them around so I don't think they are rare. They make a great TV/Movie/Napping pillow. Oh, and they are great for travel too. :)
c. made a dog for hers.
This is one that she sleeps with.
These are the little tiny pillows that c made for Pancake.

Speed Tests...

There are lots of speed tests out there to determine your typing ability. THIS ONE is my favorite. It is the most challenging.. but it's fun to type lines from classic literature. c is learning to type and I will have her using this test over the summer.

Natasha has tagged me to list 7 things I love... I can't break all the many things I love down to 7 things, so I will tell you seven things I loved about yesterday.

2. the bright and sparkling day that always comes after a storm has blown through
3. the piles of snow that look like a million bazillion diamonds
4. a good story with a happy ending
5. hugs and kisses
6. making a new friend
7. a nice visit from our dinosaur friend

I tag (only if you want to)... Shelese, Amy, Allison, Liz and anyone else who wants to play! :)

7 Things About Me...

Miss Felicity @ All Things Bright & Beautiful (and if you haven't been over to visit her gorgeous blog, you are missing out. Don't miss it!)
...anyway, Felicity has tagged me but I don't know if I can think up anything that most of you don't know already.

1. I adore flowers so much that they are part of the budget and I always have a few around.

2. I love living in Utah & I love snowy winters like this one has been. C snapped this photo right out the window the other day. When the sun comes out, it looks like a bazillion sparkly diamonds.

3. I sometimes eat paint, not on purpose. Tip: if you are going to hold a paint brush in your teeth.. make sure it doesn't have paint all over it first. (Paint does not taste good).

4. After all the years we've been married, I'm still madly in love with C... more than ever actually... even though it makes me feel shy to say it.

5. Little c is my very favorite artist & best girlfriend.

6. I like to go on vacation to big cities. NYC, San Francisco and Vancouver Canada are my favorites so far.

7. I love to read. I decorate in books. I read a book on tape while I work during the day and I have a couple by my bedside that I read at night. It's fun to have 2-3 going at the same time.

I don't know who has played already, so if you want to play.. consider yourself tagged and let me know, because I want to visit you and read your 7 things. Have a Happy Day!

The Jane Austen Action Figure...

I recieved this for Christmas. I love it! On the back it says her weapon of choice is a pen, or language or something and it has a lot of fun Jane quotes. I wish I didn't throw the box away now. Fun!

Prom...

I wanted to participate in Natasha's Prom, but I swear to you that I couldn't find a single High School photo of myself other than the ones in the year book (they're too small). I don't know what has happened to them all. I really looked and I just came across case after case of pictures of little c. Anyway, I did wear those sparkly earrings to several formal dances. They sure pinch, I've never pierced my ears and these particular clips are just mean. I didn't wear the necklace below to prom, but I wore it in High School all the time. I begged for this necklace and got it for my birthday one year I think. Cute huh? They are called parrot pearl, but I like to call them my pig pearls.. it's more fun to say. :) Happy Prom everyone!

Hyper Dash...

I really like the idea of this game for kids. It's a get up off the couch sort of really fun, outside for kids, tag game.
How to play:
Hyper Dash consists of one electronic tagger and five different colored and numbered targets. The tagger plays pre-recorded music and calls out which targets you need to strike. It tracks the amount of time taken to complete each course. The tagger uses radio frequency identification (RFID) to recognize the targets, which can be set up side-by-side, or spread out across the length of a football field. There's no limit to the distance between targets. Farther targets result in more running and exercise. Hyper Dash can be played indoors or outdoors; solo, in pairs, or in teams.
I don't really know if I like this for a Christmas Gift... simply because if the weather is bad.. you can't play it in the house (I'd go mad) but I love the idea for summer and children's parties.

Sweet Treats...

Blue House on a Hill tagged me as one sweet treat to read. I am so flattered and I tag... Just Recipes... Toothsome Family... & According to Kelly. I had a difficult time choosing 3 because I like all the blogs that I link to and quite a few more. There are so many fun people out there and it has been great to make friends from here to England, Austrailia & Canada to right back here in Utah. I'm so glad to have met you all.

Canadian Geese & Marching Bands...

I'm sorry these aren't very good pictures. I think I was in one of those moods yesterday where nothing was going to spoil my bliss. The story is that our local High School puts on a marching band competition every year. It's a big event. Somehow, although I just adore marching bands, I have never been to this before. It was fantastic! ... except for a couple of things #1 we were sadly under dressed for such an event. It was really cold. #2 not only was it cold the rain was pouring in sheets out of the sky (I felt so badly for the poor flag girls whose mascara was running and whose hair was stringing not to mention they were soaked and freezing cold) #3 a ginormous Canadian goose pooped on my coat. :(
Can I tell you that none of these things bothered me or little c and her cousins. We were out to have a good time and we were not about to let Satan and all his goose angels stop us. We had so much fun. I can't wait to go again next year. We had packed a really fun picnic of apple juice and donuts and turkey sandwiches (take that birdies). Thank heavens our picnic was long finished before the goose showed up. When he showed up, I just took that coat off (it's now been washed 3 times) and ran quickly home for more coats and fleece blankies. We only had to leave because it started raining so hard that our bums all got soaked too. But really what a great night. How about that last band right before we left... huge band... in purple uniforms all playing Ray Charles! I'm never missing this event again.

Take This Fun Test...

I sometimes get strange e-mails from my dad's family.... photos of the most ginormous alligator in the world.. stuff like the. But, the other day my uncle sent a link to this American Civics test. So, yesterday I took the test for fun; weird, I know. There are sixty questions and it took me about 10 minutes to take the test. It was really fun just to take a test to see what you know without any real pressure. I don't think I've ever done that before. Anyway, I scored 78.3% keeping my c+ average going strong and teaching me that I have a lot more reading I need to do. C scored 91%! He has one of those brains where you really learn things and never forget them. It's often helpful to have an encyclopedia around. Anyway, take the civics test here and see how you do. If you can beat C's 91% (no cheating :) I'll send you a free bookmark. Have fun!
